New UIkit-3 Pro, Plus and Free

Today I’m so proud to release a major update to the UIkit-3 for RapidWeaver. I’m working on this version for almost a year now and released a first beta version just last October.
This version takes full advantage of the functionality included in the core framework, resulting in a more powerful package.

No jQuery

This version was re-worked from the ground up in pure Javascript, all jQuery dependencies were totally removed. The end result is a much lighter package compared to previous versions. A jQuery stack is included in the package for use with 3rd party stacks if needed.

Tests Project

The Tests project has been updated reflecting the changes, some of the new animations added are quite impressive:

New UIkit-3 Free

A new UIkit-3 Free package is also introduced, so all weavers can now test some of the basic functionalities of the framework. The free package include 16 stacks and the UIkit-3 theme, all taken from the main package with just a few limitations.

New UIkit-3 purchase options

Users can now opt to purchase UIkit-3 Pro or UIkit-3 Plus for a reduced price, both include over 40 stacks each. The UIkit-3 Pro Bundle include both packages and all stacks of the framework, that’s over 100 main and under-the-hood stacks.

Foundation Reveal Modal tricks

Here's a small tutorial on how to implement the Reveal Modal on a Foundation based theme like Phaedra or Estiasis. We know how to do it with a stack in a Stacks page, but what about implementing a modal into a Blog or Photo Album page?

Here's the example that we'll try to reproduce:

All we have to do is:
1. Add the modal markup to the sidebar.
2. Use the data-reveal trigger on a button.
3. Add the Foundation script call to the Custom Header field.
4. Add the Foundation trigger to the Custom Javascript field.

If you're not familiar to the Foundation Reveal Modal or any of Foundation docs, this is a good place to read more about it and where I went to grab the markup: http://foundation.zurb.com/docs/components/reveal.html

1. So let's start by using the markup for the Modal - copy & paste to the sidebar:

After you pasted the snippet, select it an Ignore Format (CMD + .)

2. Now add the Modal call to a button. This is an example for the Phaedra theme button, but can be applied to any button:

We may also get the modal to display without clicking a button, handy to show any alerts or promotions. In order to accomplish this follow all the steps above and add this piece of code to the Custom JavaScript field, just after the Foundation trigger:

Flickr is changing it's API to SSL only on 27 of June 2014: what it means?
Basically it means that the communication with Flickr and it's users galleries became even more solid and secure. This change is affecting all Photographos galleries that communicate with Flickr - other galleries are not affected at all.

We are reviewing all Flickr related galleries and will release updates asap.

In an experimental mode Parallaxis can be adapted to work with Bootstrap or Foundation frameworks.

There are two main drawbacks to this approach:

the page will take a few more seconds to load both style sheet and JavaScript files needed
the simulator will not work properly

Also note that although both frameworks integrate fine with Parallaxis, this approach is an experiment only and no support can be given on any framework requirements, application and editing whatsoever.

I've just finished an experiment using BigVideo and Parallaxis theme, after a customer request, and thought it could be of interest for other customers as well. It looks really great in Chrome and Safari, not so in Firefox. Did not tested in Internet Explorers at all. For best results we may use mp4, mov or Vimeo videos.

How to do it using Parallaxis theme:

Download the RapidWeaver project from this location: http://goo.gl/ICCNnV
Open the page in edit mode and double click on the very first element, the HTML element, to edit it's contents
Replace the link on the little script with a link to your own video

These are our latest (March 15) benchmarks regarding our response times and channel tickets. Much work has been done in order to decrease the first response times, taking in account the different time zones and our business hours.

Another interesting point is that customers are opening tickets via the web portal, rather than email. This tells much about the work behind the helping desk and each product's manual in the forums.
Talking about forums and I'd announce that public forums will be opened in a test base in the near future.
